Ozone protective layer is critical for protecting against harmful UV radiations targeting our planet and maintaining life on earth. Its depletion is a matter of grave concern for the planet. In order to reduce man-made impact on the Ozone protective layer, the Montreal Protocol was ratified by 197 Nations, and now forms the basis for actions and measures against ozone depleting substances (ODS). Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a major greenhouse gas, has been included under the Protocol since 2016. More recently the Kigali Amendment was ratified under the Montreal Protocol (in 2019) to further strengthen the  movement against HFCs .

Our experts have been helping countries and jurisdictions develop and monitor their ODS programs over several years. We work on all aspects of ODS phase-out management plans including:

  • Preparation and verification of HCFC phase-out management plan

  • Market survey to assess the quantities and types of HFCs consumed

  • Projection of future HFC emissions under Business as Usual (BAU), and establishing emission inventory,

  • Analysis of current and future HFC mitigation potential,

  • Technology road-map development for various sub-sectors under refrigeration,  air conditioning and foam sector

  • Technology and cost-benefit analysis of Low-GWP alternatives like natural refrigerants

  • Design and management of various ODS destruction projects under climate co-financing in Article 5 countries etc.

Additionally we also conduct high quality policy analysis as well ass knowledge and capacity building in the domain.
