Vipul Sharma

Principal (Sustainability)

Vipul is an accomplished sustainability and development professional with extensive experience on Climate Change, Community Development, Watershed Management, Business & Biodiversity issues and Policy & Strategy Development especially formulating Corporate Policy & strategies aligned with Global Environmental Standards. He has more than 11 years of experience crosscutting across global knowledge sharing, implementing large field projects, capacity building and policy advocacy. He has worked with central & state governments, bilateral & multilateral institutions, NGOs and corporates. Some of his notable clients include MoEF&CC, ADB, World Bank, WBCSD, IMFN, Tata Steel, Tata Power, UltraTech Cements, Aditya Birla Group, Hindalco, Nokia. Recently, he has driven two Industry sector leaders -Tata Steel and UltraTech Cement Ltd, and a global conglomerate- the Aditya Birla Group, in adopting a Corporate Biodiversity Policy. He has also implemented some large grant-based projects on watershed management, community development, climate change and ecosystem-based adaptation in the Indian Himalayan Region.

 

He has conducted 40+ training programmes for corporates on Biodiversity Management & Sustainability. He has been invited as an expert speaker on various national & international forums and has successfully completed international assignments in the Philippines, Hongkong, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

 

He started his professional career with Clean Air Asia (Then CAI Asia) and later joined IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature (an UN observer body), where he has contributed immensely over the last 10 years.

 

Vipul has a degree in B. Tech Mechanical Engineering from UP Technical University and an M. Tech in Industrial Pollution Abatement from IIT Rookree. Currently Vipul is pursuing PG Diploma in Environment Law and Policy from National Law University, New Delhi. In addition, Vipul has undergone many short term trainings on EHS, SIA, RS & GIS, CSR and Air Quality Management.      

 

He likes reading, travelling and is an avid wildlife photographer.
