Vinod Kala
Managing Director

Vinod founded EVI in 2004 to develop commercially sustainable ways to address climate change. Under his direction, EVI has evolved into a diverse enterprise specializing in clean energy technology, finance and project development. Today, he is recognized as a leader in this area. He and EVI have done pioneering work to help their clients make the most of opportunities for climate change mitigation, emissions reduction, financial structuring and the generation of additional revenue streams.

Vinod has concurrently promoted and advised other clean technology initiatives, including Kalpan Hydro- a developer of run-of-the-river hydro power projects ranging from 5 to 200 MW, DSTL- an incubator of cutting-edge technology with a focus on nanotechnology-based semiconductors and WindForce Management- a provider of turnkey services for wind-based power projects.

Before he founded EVI, Vinod spent a decade as a business consultant, handling cross-border mergers and acquisitions, large-scale financial re-engineering, and the launching of new products and ventures. He holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Ashutosh Pandey
President, Business Development

Ashutosh is President (Business Development) at Emergent Ventures (EVI) and has been with EVI since its inception. Under his leadership, EVI has grown from its first assignment to a presence in more than 10 countries across four continents today.

He is an expert on the climate change mitigation, sustainability and renewable energy related issues. He has a wealth of experience on the regulatory, technical as well as financial aspects of these markets. He has led various structured sales deals for voluntary and certified emission reductions. Ashutosh is also the driving force behind the company’s new venture into strategy consulting, advising large companies & Governments on sustainability & climate change related risks & opportunities.

He is currently involved in expanding EVI’s presence internationally and positioning EVI as a leading renewable energy player.

Ashutosh is a chemical engineer from HBTI, Kanpur and holds a master's degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

Mahua Acharya
Chief Strategy Officer

Mahua leads strategic ventures at EVI. Her role includes managing fund raise for EVI, structuring transactions and projects, liaising with investors and financial institutions, and leading strategic sales for the company.

Mahua has worked in the climate change space and the carbon market for the past decade. Before EVI she was with ArcelorMittal in London, where she set up and managed the carbon investment business for the company, initially capitalized at €100 million. She has also worked at the World Bank in Washington, DC, where she managed carbon finance purchases in South Asia and designed the Carbon Partnership Facility, a fund for the purchase of carbon credits beyond 2012. At the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, she led the development of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a corporate accounting tool which is now used by industries and cities worldwide.

Mahua holds a master's degree from Yale University.

Atul Sanghal
VP, Carbon Advisory

Atul leads execution for carbon advisory services in India, Africa and South East Asia. He is responsible for execution, contracting and new business development for the carbon advisory business.

Atul has of experience in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project development and has successfully registered more than 35 CDM projects. He also has facilitated registration of voluntary carbon market (VCM) projects. He has experience across various methodologies, project types and rules and procedures that govern the CDM project cycle.

Atul is a Mechanical Engineer and also has a Masters degree in Energy and Environment from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Ashok Upadhyay
Head-Project Execution

Ashok oversees the execution of clean energy projects at EVI. With his background in technology and implementation, Ashok is responsible for project feasibility studies, modeling simulation, basic engineering, and preparation of Detailed Project Reports.

In his 30 years of international engineering and contracting experience in the energy sector, he has handled projects in infrastructure, power generation, and oil and gas processing. Prior to joining EVI, Ashok has worked with the Indian Oil Corporation, GAIL India, Bechtel, Saipen and Larsen and Toubro.

Ashok has also authored several publications for the energy sector and has received international awards for his work. He holds a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Jabalpur, India.

Sanjay Dube
VP, Sustainability Adviosry

Sanjay leads the Sustainability and Climate Value Advisory business for EVI. He is responsible for delivering climate change services to public and private sector clients, in India and overseas.

Sanjay has over 22 years of experience in planning, management and implementation of projects related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change and natural resources management. He has led projects with agencies such as the Global Environment Facility, UNDP, US Environmental Protection Agency, the German government, the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Sanjay continues to assist the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, India on appliance standards and building energy efficiency programs.

He holds a masters degree in Land and Water Management Engineering and has studied 'Energy Planning and The Environment' from the University of Oslo, Norway.
